Family-run Mexican cafe serving Sonoran-style fare inside a charming, century-old home.- Google
"Great chips and salsa, awesome bar, love the bandera trio and corn tamales!"

Another fave restaurant of mine... oddly enough I like the vegetarian burrito and I add chicken! I have always had great service and good drinks. Ambiance is cute and they serve your water in a Mason jar... nestled in a historic downtown house and great service.

Had seen good things said about this place & a Tuesday night shouldn't have problems. Boy is that wrong! Service was abysmal & very disappointing. Only one glass of soda, never offered drink refills (even on the alcoholic drinks). Took over 35 minutes to order at around 6pm and when the food came out part of mine was cold. Poor effort!

One of my favorite restaurants. I was so disappointed when they would not accommodate a special order. I called 3 days ahead of time. When they say no substitutions they mean it.

Food is good, service can be slow. Remember, free parking on the weekend when using the metered spots.

I hate to give this review, the food is pretty good and seems very fresh. Our server was extremely pleasant and tried to provide good service...maybe she was over worked with tables inside (we were sitting in the covered patio area).. We ordered the tinga chicken burritos. Mine was perfect. My wife ordered one with just green sauce even though it came out with red sauce. We mentioned this and it was quickly taken in the back and green sauce was put on top of the red sauce. I guess it was intended to hide the red sauce. I don't think we were specific enough that she didn't want any red sauce or maybe they thought we were "hard of seeing." The reason for the time and energy I am putting into this review is because about half way through our meal, an unpleasant middle aged man with greased black hair came right in front of us and shut of the heat. He asked the couple sitting next to us if they were comfortable, but as soon as they left, apparently it was not worth heating the area anymore for us. I hope they are able to figure out a way to care about their customers as much as they apparently do for the quality of the food.

Showed up and saw the streets littered with cars on a Tuesday night, so I knew this place had to be good...I wasn't wrong. This is hands down the best Mexican food I have ever had. I ordered the Bandera Trip Sampler and everything had its own unique and defined taste that conquered my Mexican Food cravings. I am used to Mexican food blending together and everything tastes relatively the same with slightly different textures. This place will not disappoint. My friend ordered the Burros Asada Y Elegante Carne Asada and it also was incredibly delicious. The only thing that made me sad was that I did not have enough room for desert. Happy Eating!

El Charro was fantastic! My server Johan was just perfect; he was poised and had ready answers to all of my questions. I was traveling across the country upon the death of my mother and he was sweet without going overboard. His suggestions were perfect and I had just about the most perfect Sonoran Mexican dinner I've ever had, from the chips and smoky homemade salsa to the organic tequila margarita to the Numero Uno combination. Beautiful presentation and complex flavors. FANTASTICO!!

I guess if you don't typically eat Mexican food it's ok it's like the Taco Bell of the Mexican restaurant world except expensive. The carne seca is probably the only thing worth ordering, everything else tase like it came in a box from who knows where not very fresh. There are tons of better Mexican restaurants like Guadalajara and guero canelo's to name a few. Save your money on this overpriced bland generic "Mexican food". They may have invented the chimichanga but seems like they forgot how to make it delicious odd huh?
