A "moment of truth" blog article... will anyone sign up for this running clinic, within a week, just because I wrote about it? And I will know, because I'm the instructor...
Promotes the 2014 Midsummer Night Run in Toronto, as well as the Running Room 10 Miler clinic to train for this annual charity event.

One blog topic I sometimes choose: a public service announcement (timely in at least in a couple of countries).
http://dehaanservices.ca/?p=3608
A public service announcement stating when Canada and the USA switch to Daylight Savings Time in 2014, and covers several other countries and events.

I'd already covered the Canadian dates for Family Day, but hadn't brought the focus back to Toronto. And frugal. ("I like my blog like I like my recreational activities...local & frugal").
Promotes Family Day 2014 events at six civic museums in Toronto. Programs range from an Irish Ceilidh through sword drills to learning about owls.

My editor pointed out the CNN article with the background and asked whether we could spot any trends.
Yup!
2014 has already started off with violence erupting in public places, including malls and schools. Are mass shootings happening more often in the U.S.?

+Vincent E. Summers Every generation has said they are living in the "the last days." There are always signs. I think we are living in desperate times, no doubt, but I put all these shootings squarely on Reagan and Bush 1's head. They are the ones who threw all the mentally ill out in the streets and refused to care for them. I've had an emotionally unstable child with no insurance and little money. I can tell you first hand, most parents like me try very hard to get help for these kids, but it isn't there. It just isn't there. Then they go shoot up a school and people want to ban guns. The answer is better mental health care, not fewer guns.

My writing thread includes this barely in time article in my ongoing series on annual events in Toronto (and the Greater Toronto Area). Does your city have "levées"?
Publicizes several 2014 New Year Levées in Toronto and 2014 New Year Levées in the GTA, with dates and times.

Well, beating a 4-minute mile for 5 miles. Hmm, 5 miles = 8 Km X 3 = 24 minutes for world-class elite marathon runners (the pace for 42.2 Km, or 26.2 miles). Yes...SIGN HIM UP!

It's a challenge to simply name the annual summer events in Toronto on a weekend-by-weekend basis; there are so many! Do you pre-view your city's events? How - either in terms of "writing style" or "how do you find the info"?
Promotes three major annual events in Toronto for June 7-8, 2014: the Dundas West Fest, the Riverdale Art Walk, and 100 in 1 Day Interventions.

Squeaked this article just under the wire for Earth Hour. I included a bit of a rant about candles in Earth Hour: appropriate or not?
Promotes a pair of events for Earth Hour 2014 in Toronto. Also points to other sources for both Earth Hour and Earth Day information.

"How to Divide the Indivisible" would be such a great paradox. However, I wrote this article with very practical applications for inheritance and divorce.
Is it possible to fairly divide assets without anyone getting upset or jealous? With the help of an ingenious algorithm, you can divide the indivisible.

Amazing what you can learn from the news, and what they don't tell us. Do you find Groundhog Day fun or overdone?
The 2014 Groundhog Day in Canada will be more crowded when Dundas Donna joins Wiarton Willie and several others in predicting the end of winter.

I think it is great fun, but I don't celebrate anymore. I just watch it on the news.

Writing Thread: This past week I saw the first ad for an activity for Family Day 2014 in Canada, and figured I'd better get busy.

Writing thread: Do you need to make lemonade from life's lemons? Since I had a bad week without running, I wrote an article about it. (And a cute cat should make it a winner!)

I admire you. Your worst week running beats my best. I don't run unless something is chasing me.
