Our Maths textbooks were invariably in English back when I was in school. Philanthropist Tommaso Vella decided a mixture of Maltese and English would be the best means to teach Mathematics to dry-docks workers so in 1913 he published this book.

The priceless Flemish Tapestries commissioned by Aragonese Grand Master Ramon Perellos y Roccaful in 1697 and currently held in St John's Co Cathedral have been looking for a home to better exhibit them. The Cathedral has proposed an extension to the building but there are issues with altering the heritage protected building. International conservation agency Icomos and Unesco have both been involved. Let's hope that a balance is struck so that we may again see the tapestries in all their glory.
