NYS VTL 1144-a, also known as the Ambrose-Searles "Move Over" law has been aggressively-enforced since its introduction in 2011 and continues to be one of the more common tickets we see from our clients in the Albany area.

Some courts have no-reduction policies on these tickets.

A so-called "violence tax" on guns in the Chicago area was approved last week and will go into affect on April 1, 2013. We get many, many clients who have been charged with Unlicensed Operation or Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (criminal misdemeanor) for driving with a suspended license at the time of a traffic stop - for speeding or some other common violation - or are having trouble renewing their license in their home state. This usually happens because they have failed to answer a traffic summons in New York state.

My recent blog posts explains what it means, why it's a bad thing, and how to correct it.

How to get a warning, not a ticket (New York version). Inspired by a recent, unsatisfying recent MSN article, we put together our own version based on our over 22 years experience in New York state.

We appreciate any comments, critiques, +1's, etc.
