I started training for the 2016 Richmond Marathon this week. With the humidity and a cold it was rough. http://wp.me/p7xxYm-2w

Hot and humid 11 miles on the trails at Umstead this morning. Great to see so many people out there despite the heat. #trailrunning

Andrea and I finished a running streak this month, and had more fun than we thought. Read more about our take on the experience here: http://wp.me/p7xxYm-2p #RWRunstreak

The trail running program I've been doing this summer took us to Raven Rock State Park this morning for our longer run. The trails offered a mix of terrain from sandy trails along the creeks to hills with packed mud and loose rocks that made it hard to find footing. The route proved more challenging than I expected, but offered treats like a spot on the Cape Fear where we could jump in and cool off, and an overlook with great views of the river. A tough 8.5, but worth the drive.

Marathon aid stations, circa 1904:
"The roadside cleanse, raw eggs, strychnine, and brandy had their effect. 'He appeared to revive and jogged along once more,' Lucas reported." We've come a long way.

Reflecting on running the Point 262 from Fullsteam Brewery and Bull City Running last month in Durham. Sometimes an event ends up taking you in a different direction. I went in looking to assess my speed, but the real take-away will be my youngest child's fixation on a monkey chasing a banana. http://wp.me/p7xxYm-29
