The Largest Open-Enrollment Creative Writing and Screenwriting Program in the Nation
Introduction
As the largest and most comprehensive continuing education writing program worldwide, we offer more than 450 annual open-enrollment* courses onsite and online in novel writing, short fiction, personal essay, memoir, poetry, playwriting, writing for the youth market, publishing, feature film writing, and television writing. Courses are designed to accommodate individual writing needs, ambitions, and lifestyles.  Special programs and services include certificate programs in fiction, creative nonfiction, feature film writing, and television writing; a 4-day Writers Studio; Master Classes; manuscript and screenplay consultation services; online mentorship programs; literary and screenwriting competitions; knowledgeable advisors; and free public events such as the Writers Faire and Publication Party.

Mission Statement

The Writers’ Program is committed to enriching writers and aspiring writers in Southern California, and through its online offerings the global internet community. With over 200 instructors in the fields of screenwriting, fiction writing, nonfiction writing, playwriting, and poetry, the Writers’ Program provides the most comprehensive and beneficial instruction of its kind to adult students by:

  • Connecting them to their aspirations in all types of writing;
  • Offering innovative career development and personal enrichment opportunities;
  • Providing numerous scholarship opportunities for those in need;
  • Providing them with the skills necessary to make a continued impact in the writing arts;
  • Serving as a resource and hub for the extensive writing community in Los Angeles;
  • Expanding our service to the community through outreach, partnerships, and donations.
