+Patrick Costello Now I see. Including a kind in the query ("by kind" in the case of blog posts or "by kind + ancestor" for comments) would drop the "key natural order" because it involves an index.

Maybe related: https://developers.google.com/appengine/docs/python/datastore/queries#ordering_of_query_results_is_undefined_when_no_sort_order_is_specified 

Which I read as "any order that you see now that is not driven by indexes is not guaranteed for the future".

Loved the business lunch with steak, real japanese cook prepare it in front of you! Beware of the gaelic :) A bit expensive though.
