Thanks for publicizing the report, Brian. It moves in an unexpected direction. The recommendations struck me as increased micromanagement  by government(defining HIE-sensitive measures, counting conformance), which I thought we were trying to move away from. But the report does make a good case that the market in health care can't handle the change itself, because all actors have to move forward in concert.

Remember the Zeo sleep tracker? Amazing how far devices have come in less than 10 years, with the Oura at a comparable price

The Oura doesn’t measure brain activity as the Zeo did, but uses other vital signs that are easy to gather and determines your sleep patterns. It is also less intrusive and works with the cloud.

Why does a professor at Emory University want to use an article of mine from 2006 about in his course?

I reread the article, and it's not at all bad. Covers technology, economics, and politics. Many themes, with a little polishing, are still resonant today. I was already thinking about the Internet of Things, MOOCs, and patient centered medical homes before they got their names.

I don't take the study too seriously, but it's interesting to think whether everyone is more demanding nowadays of what computers can do

Perhaps doctors have more experience now than they did 5 years ago with simple interfaces and useful support for their work in other areas of social media, web use, etc.
