Sunset on the Hudson River near Tarrytown. I was lucky enough to attend the Ginman/Sullivan family reunion, and I took this as the festivities were winding down.

Here is the view from the top of the Bodie Island lighthouse. I'm looking out to sea, and there are no buildings in the picture. Well, there is the railing and lightening rod, but it is otherwise unspoiled.

I'm bummed about my lack of choices in running shoes. Nothing seems to work for me since the demise of the Nike Structure 15. Brooks has the best fit, but the toe tilt of the Ravenna hurts more than it helps, and the Adrenaline has too much pronation control.

My best set up so far is the Zoot Ovwa 2 with different insoles in each shoe (this shoe is still too narrow, but the most comfortable out of a sorry lot). Everything else is too long and narrow. Saucony bends in the wrong place on the foot for me.

What an interesting situation. This could force me to change to cycling even though I consider myself a runner. What the heck happened to running shoes for women?? They suck!

One week after moving, I finally found the box containing my FR Garmin 305 and my headlamp! Now if I can just ditch this lung infection, I can get back to running regularly.

Here is the Hatteras lighthouse and the roiling sky above it. We were the last tour to the top that day. The wind picked up, and the skies grew dark minutes after we came back down.

Hi Jeff, yes it was a lovely day. Hatteras has changed a lot since I was last down there, but its beauty is timeless. I need to come back more often.

Yeah, they were stronger. I'm glad we got a chance to go up to the top of the Hatteras lighthouse. It would have been a bummer to drive there and not go to the top.

+Reginold Miller Thanks for your help! I could not find the Enduro, but I'll keep an eye out. I barely noticed the typo. Please don't worry about that:-) I really need the shoe fit pendulum to swing back to wider/shorter shoes, but I hope the Zoots and ASICS will get me through this rough patch! Take care of yourself:-)

More races should offer glassware as prizes. I could sure use more pint and rocks glasses!

Still waiting for my jewel-encrusted goblet. Maybe I should get faster or look for that grail-shaped beacon:-)

My Garmin FR 305 is in a box around here somewhere, ugh moving:-( I got Stava Run on my Android phone as a temporary replacement. Now I need to run outside. Not sure when I'll manage that. Lung infections suck BTW, and I have a race on Jan. 13; so frustrated:-(

Story
Introduction
Runner, neophyte cyclist, pro cycling fan, foodie, cocktail and beer lover...Not a snob, just an enthusiast:-)

In recent years, I've had to cut my distance. I primarily race 5ks and 10ks. In spite of that, I'm contemplating one last half marathon. I'd like to get my time under 2 hours; then I'll be done. Maybe this is the year.

When properly hydrated (beer), I can talk extensively about pro-cycling.
I bought a used 1993 Miata back in 2001, and I've gone to Sports and Compacts for many years since then. They are honest, and they do good work. I rely on them for most maintenance and all repairs. They go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. I'd give them 6 stars if I could:-)
