One thing I love about the internet: you can say whatever you want to, scream it out loud, and no one will pay attention unless you were already in/famous in some way.

Once Upon a Time, 3 Girls Fell in Love with a Broadway Show
New York, NY. The gritty 1970s. Chain snatchers and junkies...every park a needle park...subways blind with graffiti. Garbage blew from sidewalk to sidewalk and the smell of bread still rose from the Silvercup factory. Artists and students squatted in ruine...

Young people blow my mind. Read what these young coders developed in a day and a half! Why haven't either #Google or #Facebook (bothered sponsors of the event) reached out to work with them?

This is the backstory of every piece of dystopic fiction you've read in your life: At 3 AM, night fell on America. Here's what the sky looked like this morning: flat; zinc; dead. The first thing I heard when I left my building was a siren. I instinctively wondered: is it a regular siren or has it already started. I got to the subway and started down the stairs. When I reached the first landing, the spot where someone standing in the passage to the turnstiles can see your feet, a male voice called out "It's closed. Go the other way." I stopped. I called back to him "the stairs or the subway?" because the first thing I thought was that, out of despair, maybe the subway workers had gone on strike. "The stairs," he called back; "go the other way." It was an authoritative voice, maybe a cop's, so I turned and started back up the stairs. As we passed people heading down, the woman in front of me told them "it's closed; go the other way." I crossed the boulevard and went down the staircase on that side. At the mezzanine, I could see around the curve to my usual passage way; it was blocked off by a length of red tape stretched between couple of trashcans, make-do and unplanned. After I passed through the turnstile, I could see my usual entrance, a revolving door. This toowas roped off with red tape. "A body," I surmised (why?), instantly. Was there blood? I wondered. A street person starved and blue? Were they sparing us the sight or did they simply not want us to see. A body. I was certain. The first body of the new regime. That is what the sky looked like this morning.

Just when you think you've heard them all...Cheery robo-call to my mobile informing me that my Student Loan has been flagged for reduction, thanks to a new government program. Oh really? Either I'm witnessing the birth of a shiny new scam or some government agency is pretty horrifyingly back-logged. #scam-aware

Venting about #cardholderservices again. This is a phone-based scam that has been harassing me for several years now -- on a phone number that has been registered to the "do not call list" ever since such a list was initiated. They robo-call multiple times a day. After about 10 days of this, they pause -- for as long as two months; but they always return. When I have occasionally pressed 1 "to speak with an operator" and asked to be removed from the list, I get hung up on (thereby confirming the scamminess of this "company". Once, when a message with a return number was left, I called hoping to resolve things once and for all. I told the person who answered that I wanted them to stop calling me and she snapped back with "we didn't call you, you just called us." If there is any kind of FBI, FCC or any other federal investigation OR some kind of class-action suit I could join to sue the hell out of these people for harassment, I would be thrilled to hear about it.
