During the last three decades, the average income of a Cambridge resident has more than doubled while the percent of the population living in poverty remains unchanged. Despite this, Cambridge has neither an identifiable anti-poverty program, nor has fighting poverty been established as goal by the City Council. Indeed, the Council goals seem more aligned with fiscal convervatism than progressive Cambridge. #CambMA

This is outrageous on its face. Vendors shouldn't be helping to set policy for a city.

You don't really expect a 30 year veteran of the State and Defense Departments, the chief interpreter when Nixon went to China, and George HW Bush's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia to sound as if he were channeling Noam Chomsky, but that's what happened at MIT Thursday night.

So, which is weirder:

1) That Boston's MBTA pass readers show Windows error messages on their little feedback screens?

or

2) That I notice and take a picture of Windows error messages on MBTA pass reader screens?

At $1,660 per ounce, that’s over $600 billion which people think they own but don’t. To put that number in context, it’s roughly half the total quantity of subprime mortgages which had been issued at the height of the housing bubble.
