Good food, atrocious manager and service. My wife and I have visited this restaurant about a dozen times, since we live in midtown, and while the food is generally good, the service has always been at best ropey. The senior staff seem to think they are doing you a favour by letting you enter the establishment. Tonight's dinner was the worst of the lot! We decided to get a drink at the bar and order food to go. The chips and dip with a beer and margarita are always good but that's where it ended! We got home and our 'Fajita y camarone (mixed chicken and beef) lacked not only chicken but also the wraps for the fajitas and the rice looked like they'd given us a teaspoon worth each. Now, considering the food was cooked nicely my wife said 'I'm going to phone them, not to get anything back or return the food but let them know they were extremely sub-par with tonight's offering!' That was a mistake! The hostess passed my wife into the manager and he clearly does not believe in customer service! First he claimed that fajitas don't come with wraps (even if that was the case, it would mean they'd changed the dishes for just this evening) and then he said if we had s problem we should fine elsewhere! My god the arrogance of the man! (As if to say, yes we gave you crap service, so what we get enough turnover). All we wanted to hear from the manager was 'sorry the service was a bit crap tonight, we were a bit busy and got distracted, we'll do better next time!' Yet, the restaurant management is far too puffed up for that! Frankly they'll keep getting good business because of their location, even with the worst customer service in midtown! However, just be aware that management probably don't want said business and are merely tolerating you, it certainly seems that way...

It was a friends birthday so 12 friends went, We had the mimosa ( $10.5 for the first and .01 cents there after ) one of the guest ask for her check because she had to go, then the server brought everyone there check, we were not ready to go yet. We ask for more drinks but never received anymore, we waited & waited but he never came over. Also.... I went to the restroom and saw 4 cockroaches on the walls..... I told one of the servers but she didn't seem to care. My food ( Tacos Carbon beef ) .... Cheap meat, very Chuy, the rice taste so dry. Not everything was horrible, my friend to my left had tacos, he said that they were ok. I don't see myself going back, this is not the first bad trip, they really lower there standards.

I called on a Wednesday to make a reservation for Friday at 7:30 for15 people. Then I called back on Friday at 2:30 to say that I only needed a table for 11 and they told me they do not take reservations on Fridays and Saturdays. I asked the manager if he was okay losing a party of 11 and he said yes. Horrible.

Basic. Queso was like watery Velveeta but priced like it should definitely be good queso. Any place with cheese enchiladas more than $10 is insane. Especially when the enchiladas taste just like, if not worse, the ones from Los Cucos where they're $7. Service was unfriendly and scarce, parking hard to find. Basic and not worth it.

Salsa is very delicious. The rest of the food not so good. We did not have a good experience since a roach fell on our table and the waiter just moved it (almost landed on my friend). Instead of suggesting to move us to a table, he just asked my friend to move to another seat; but, we decided to move. He told us there was a roach because we were under the a/c. That's no excuse. He did try to make up for it by giving us a cheese dip, which was nice. I still think they should keep their location roach free. I also noticed they were cleaning an air vent as people were eating right below it. Overall, food is ok (I've had better at other places) and probably won't go back. Food doesn't have much flavor other than the salsa. I would recommend this place if you like subpar Mexican food. Restaurant sure didn't live up to my last name.

Went in after finally being able to leave my house after a dental surgery. As I am still on the soft food diet and loving their tortilla soup I walked the five blocks over to fill my appetite. Upon entering, the hostess kindly asks me to remove my ball cap. I oblige begrudgingly as my hair is worse for wear. I order my food and recall the last time I was at this establishment a homeless man was sitting at the bar, drinking water, and bothering another patron. I put my hat back on. The same hostess walks by and asks if I mind-yes I mind and would like to speak to a manager. Manager arrives asks if I have a question and I spin him my story of my last visit. When asked if he'd rather have me wearing a hat bothering no one paying for food or the vagabond aforementioned, he chose the derelict.

Salsa flavor is amazing and with a little bit of a spice kick! Queso is perfectly prepared and flavorable. And last, the lobster enchiladas are to die for!!

Cyclone Anaya's is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Houston. This particular location is always busy on the weekends so plan ahead. The chips & salsa are a good start, but adding queso dip makes it a better start. I typically get a Jumbo frozen margarita whenever I am here. It tastes really good and is strong. The stuffed green pepper and the steak quesadillas are excellent selections. The steak quesadillas have a unique cheese blend that sets it apart from others you may have had from other places. Cyclone Anaya's is great for happy hour or special occasions.
