Introduction

Mezzo Soprano Heather Marie Benson is a 2001 graduate of Mona Shores High School and is currently finishing her degree in Vocal Performance and Vocal Music Education at Hope College in Holland, MI. She is a four-time NATS first place winner, and received the Irma Cooper ‘Most Promising Artist’ award at the regional NATS competition in 2011. Heather has performed at a variety of theatres in the West Michigan area, her most recent credits including Street Scene (Emma Jones) for the Hope College Opera Theatre, and Once Upon a Mattress (Princess Winnifred) for Central Park Players. She will next appear in Opera Grand Rapids’ production of The Magic Flute in early 2012. Heather currently works for the Hope College Theatre Department, Muskegon Civic Theatre, and teaches private voice in Holland.
