I wanted to share with you an event I'm having this Thursday, following a 'Buy Nothing New Month' project my BBA students just completed. I thought it might be of interest for your students - please see the details below and feel free to share it (as well as the attached poster) with the students. You are invited as well!
The event will take place on Nov. 13 between 6:30-9pm at at Klein Conference room (room 510A) on 66 W. 12th St.
Buy Nothing New Month Project: 44 students, 1 month, ZERO new stuff
During the month of October 44 brave BBA students took on themselves a difficult challenge - buy nothing new (other than food and absolute necessities) for one month and explore alternative ways to meet their needs. For 31 days they shared, swapped, bought second-hand, rented, created their own solutions, asked questions, looked for answers and bravely ignored storefront window displays and the many other shopping temptations the city has to offer.
Inspired by the international Buy Nothing New Month challenge, this project aimed to explore the behaviors and values of Millennials (aka Y generation) when it comes to integrating sustainability into their lifestyle. What did the students find out? Could Millennials indeed save the day? To learn more about the project please join us for a special event on November, 13 2014, 7pm at Klein Conference Room (Room A510), 66 West 12th St.
