Now you can decide who can notify you on Google+!

Circles give you control over who you share with on Google+ and who you see content from.
Many of you have asked for similar controls over who can send you notifications, so today we're rolling out a new option in Google+ settings: “Who can notify you.” You can update your settings at https://plus.google.com/settings/plus.

This setting controls who you’ll get notifications from, if they:
• Share with you individually
• Select ‘Notify about this post’ (when sharing to a circle you’re in)
• +Mention your name
• Invite you to a hangout
• Invite you to play or send you messages from a game

You’ll still be notified if someone comments on one of your posts or adds you to a circle.

We’ve set the “Who can notify you” setting to Extended circles (http://goo.gl/TuH7Z) as the default, but you can change this to be Your circles, Anyone, or a custom selection of specific circles and individuals. We’ll be rolling this out slowly, so if it’s not available for you yet check back soon. And as always, we’d love to hear your feedback in the comments.

We have a new version of the Google+ iOS app (v. 1.0.3.2124) that features resharing posts! Grab the update from the App Store as soon as it’s available (this can take a little time so please be patient): http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google/id447119634?mt=8

Resharing is easy. Simply tap on a post (like you would to +1 it). At the bottom near the comment box, you’ll see a small arrow. Click it and you’ll see the option to “Share this post”. Just choose your audience, add a comment if you like, and hit “Post”.

You can find more info about this update in our release notes: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=1620754

As always, thanks for your feedback on the apps. We’ll keep working to make the Google+ experience awesome no matter what device you’re on.

A site has been set up to help out WordPress contributor +Ptah Dunbar with all the medical expenses and such that have resulted from his horrific accident last week. I've donated, will you?

Total shock. Wishing +Ptah Dunbar a speedy and full recovery! PS: Wear a helmet folks!
Some people have been asking about +Ptah Dunbar, a WordPress core contributor and an organizer of WordCamp Miami and local WordPress meetups. He's also a good friend of mine who resides in South Florida (he's in Miami, and i'm in Ft. Lauderdale). After speaking with a family member just now I have some news I can pass along:

Ptah, on a motorcycle, was involved in a head-on collision in Miami on Wednesday. He went through the front window of a taxi i'm told. Without a helmet. He was pronounced dead on the scene, but was able to be brought back. He was just able within the last 24 hours to be able to speak and move a little bit. As for now, he's conscious and able to speak. He is "already cracking jokes".

He's currently at a trama center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.

He is able to take visitors, so I'm planning on seeing him shortly. I have relayed the best wishes of the WordPress community through his family to him.

If you would like to leave a message for him, I think here is a good place to do it for the moment. I'll try to answer any questions I can, since i'll be speaking with his family soon again.

Many thanks.

WordCamp San Francisco

The Huddle feature (not to be confused with the Hangout feature) that's available in the mobile Google+ app is pretty cool. It's sort of like a private chat room and makes it easy to coordinate with groups of people, especially while traveling.
