Dear friends, I and Michael Holosko just contributed a chapter about technology-supported social work interventions in Oxford Bibliographies in Social Work

Chan, C., & Holosko, M. J. (2018, 2018-02-22). Technology for social work interventions. Oxford Bibliographies in Social Work. Retrieved from http://www.oxfordbibliographies.com/view/document/obo-9780195389678/obo-9780195389678-0263.xml (log in required)

Unlike traditional printed encyclopedia, such online Bibliographies provides a filter to the large amount of updated scholarly information available. Each chapter provides a quick overview of quality resources in relation to a specific domain. These chapters will be regularly updated, making the Bibliographies always a timely knowledge gateway. I hope that our chapter and many others in this set of annotated bibliographies can support your writing/ teaching/ research/ practice.

SNA is something extremely useful and powerful. Try it yourself, even just for fun. You will be amazed about how “transparent” you are in the eyes of Facebook, and your government. =)

Dear friends

I am happy to share with you my recent work.

There are hurdles in adopting or adapting Eng-based validated scales in non-English speaking contexts. This study used online methods to translate and examine a scale. We see that online methods are promising and cost-effective, though there is room for further improvement.

Dear friends, I just did a book chapter in Michael J Holosko's new book. I advocate an ICT-oriented case management practice which focuses more on practitioner-level skill sets than program-based protocols. In fact, all other chapters in this book show ways in which social workers can competently function as "agents" (working with transactions, relationships, networking, and resource matching) rather than practitioners providing direct clinical services. Recent advances in ICT enable us to revisit and re-imagine what we can do with the so-called PIE approach, systemic-ecological approach in a new media age. It is this unique "agent" role that differentiates us from other healthcare professionals.
