An Old-fashioned Winter
Aaah. The winters of my childhood. It seemed that there was snow every day of the season. We lived in a tiny village called Bunker Hill, so named, because it had a long hill, that had two distinct slopes. We lived at the crest of the bottom slope. In those ...

Treats and Treatments
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything on this blog.  I’ve had lots to tell you, but some days, I lacked energy.  Other days… motivation.  And sometimes, the words just didn’t flow. The lymphedema (swelling in my right arm and hand) continues.  Some da...

Very cool!  Cherokee added as the 57th language in Gmail.

This week Cherokee (ᏣᎳᎩ) became the 57th language in +Gmail. +NPR spoke with Joseph Erb, language technologist for the Cherokee Nation, and Craig Cornelius, Google software engineer working on internationalization, about the update: http://goo.gl/twWrg

It's estimated that only 8,000 of the Cherokee Nation's 290,000 members speak Cherokee fluently—and most of those speakers are older. By adding Cherokee as an option in Gmail (it was added to search in 2011), the hope is that more young people will begin to use the language on a daily basis. Fun fact: the word for email in Cherokee is translated as "lightning paper."

Get more details on the Gmail blog: http://goo.gl/Q9zWM

I've been taking my car to Smart Car Care for years. Dan, the owner, and Andrew, our favorite mechanic always take great care of our vehicles. We've given them some challenging problems, and they have always done a fine job. We had one problem, that 2 other mechanics thought they had fixed, but the problem continued. We took it to Smart Car Care, and Andrew repaired it correctly on the first try. I highly recommend Smart Car Care!

Tumbleweed has been our favorite restaurant for years, but this year, the portion sizes changed (much smaller now), service and food is inconsistent, and it is no longer our favorite.

My daughter and I went to Off the Wall Eatery to see the art. I had met a photographer who had his photos on display there, and he recommended I stop by to see them. Am I glad we did! Not only were his photos of the Cuyahoga Valley Nat. Park gorgeous, but the food was absolutely amazing! I had corned beef hash with eggs, which is one of my favorite breakfast meals. This was the best I've ever tasted. Perfectly seasoned potatoes, mixed with bite-size slices of tender corned beef, and served with perfectly prepared eggs. My daughter had a breakfast burrito, and she loved it! Everything tasted so fresh and yummy! We ended our meal with a key lime cupcake. Ooooooh! Awesome! I think I'll go there again today!

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this shop/cafe! They had a wide variety of locally produced fruits, vegetables, jams, jellies, baked goods and more. There was, also, a beautiful selection of hand-crafted items, including pottery, greeting cards, reusable cloth bags... We decided to split a sandwich and soup for lunch, and the staff was so accomodating and friendly. The butternut squash soup was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The cheese and veggie sandwich was out of this world! We'll definitely be going back there often!
