Health Alert: Restless Legs Syndrome May Raise Risk of Cardiovascular Death. The sleep and sensorimotor disorder
referred to as restless leg syndrome (RLS) may increase the risk of heart-related death, especially among older women.
Researchers examined data on 57,417 women and found that those with RLS were about 43% more likely to die from a
heart condition than those without RLS. Furthermore, researchers found that the longer a woman had RLS, the greater her risk of CVD-related death. The findings suggest that RLS may be a risk factor for CVD-related death.
