Hi community!

Regarding the detailed status-quo of using Nvidia Optimus on Fedora Linux: http://hansdegoede.livejournal.com/16668.html

I'm currently running Fedora 23 which was a real pain to get the nvidia closed source driver working on my Optimus notebook. As in general when using nvidia closed source driver in Fedora - but especially with all the necessary workarounds required on Optimus notebooks - the whole system configuration becomes somehow fragile and error prone in case of special conditions - e.g. entering fallback mechanism as noted in the article.

At least in my opinion such a "heavily" modified system does not provide a reliable foundation when you want to upgrading to a newer/further releases of the (Fedora) distribution, because some of the workarounds might become obsolete and be contra productive on the new system.

So I'm asking you all, what's the current status of Fedora 25 and Optimus as of today - still the same as described in the article or did latest updates ease the situation? Or is it maybe better to wait until Fedora 26 to get a better user experience?

Second, is the negativo17-repo currently the better choice for a reliable setup of the closed source driver? Or is rpmfusion the better place to look out for nvidia drivers?

Best regards
Christian
