You are mistaken, there was a Plasma 5 14.10, that neither Jim or I applied. We went both from a normal 14.10 (KF4) to 15.04 (KF5) through an dist upgrade. This is supported. Then added Kubuntu Backports PPA. That is of course not really supported although normally causes less problems then it solves.Aug 13, 2015
Scarlett ClarkModeratorGood grief. I really appreciate my work being called crap. It was tested by several and I have been using it fine for over a week. I cannot test every possible senario. It is posts like these that demotivates me from volunteering my time at all.Aug 13, 2015
There's nothing bad about the posts here. They are uncovering a trend. What you have to understand as that most of us have had ongoing issues. We get one issue fixed then another then another and then more crop up after the next release.
I can remember when I was programming regularly that a bug would challenge me. I loved creating but fixing a bug was a challenge and it got me going. The reward was in figuring out the fix. I was the programmer and I was the responsible party, the buck stopped with me. If I didn't fix it it became a mark on my name. Bugs were fixed before creating new features, always. It always worked out for the best that way.
I know some programmers don't like to fix bugs and some even feel it is beneath them. It has to be done.
The other thing that I learned as a programmer is that I had to satisfy my customers (customers are anyone that use my product -- I don't mean that they are buying my product). I got far more bugs reported to me when they knew I was serious about fixing them.Aug 13, 2015
Ovidiu-Florin BOGDANModerator+Jim Blaich please link the bug reports to the bug that bother you.Aug 13, 2015
Wow, has this thread gone south! Remember folks, the way to get things fixed is to file bug reports. If there is a "trend" here, it is people complaining about problems on social media rather than filing proper bug reports. Our team delights in fixing bugs, and is constantly asking people to file them, and test the fixes.
That said, if you have Plasma crashes and Intel, please read https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-distro-packagers/2015-August/000088.htmlAug 14, 2015

Apparently South + North.
South = Jim's instability problems that might be or not be related to Intel's video driver. If it is that is understandably irritating as KDE4 used to work fine on the same hardware. Nevertheless if the problem is with the Intel driver and other drivers work fine KDE can hardly be blamed.
North = My (and possibly others) problems with the settings in .kde after upgrading Plasma + KF5 as is the topic in this thread.Aug 14, 2015
