+Michael Hastrup Bendsen I think the whole point of the slides is exactly to give that new 'buntuer a "nice 'welcome script' that leads newcomers through some often used software many people use everyday."
So while many of us experienced 'nixers don't care about and don't watch the slides (myself included), they are useful for new guys.Jun 22, 2016

Have you ever tried Crunchbang Linux? the script starts up at very first login after reboot after the very fresh install. and starts offering the new user to install some applications that might be useful for him/herJun 22, 2016

No, never used #!. Just looked it up and I probably wouldn't use it as I don't generally like minimalist desktops. I've tried other DEs, but have preferred and gone back to KDE ever since its 3.x series. I don't even like mixing openbox with KDE (as you can do) - window widgets too small, etc.
Also, I like to stick with mainline distros with their larger dev/support teams and communities - the buntus and fedora, mainly. I've been thinking lately about trying Debian for the first time, in the wake of my failed 16.04 upgrade a month ago.Jun 23, 2016
+Chris Schembari Me too, like the mainstream distros, but....we all know mainstream is bad right? well of course it depends on so many things. But I like Kubuntu, one of the reasons I'm here :-DJun 23, 2016
+Chris Schembari But as you probably know, you can make scripts for SO many things. it's just to learn the language so you can speak your wishes to it :-DJun 23, 2016
