On the left is a gyrfalcon. Birds on the right are California Condors. If you ever have a chance to visit, do it. http://www.peregrinefund.org/

I think that non-belief is on the rise because people are far more able to actively seek out and find information without threat to their well-being now.

The NYPD is unwittingly uniting the LEFT, the RIGHT, and THE CENTER. Guns at Tea Party Rallies? No problem! Signs at peaceful Occupy Wall Street Protests? Not Allowed.

The President, Secretary of State, and world leaders cheered on the peaceful protests in the Middle East. And what do they have to say about the Liberty Square Protest in New York? CRICKETS

Masks are prohibited by the NYPD. But the MASK of REALITY about the Freedoms of US Citizens has been stripped as well.

SHAME ON NYPD
SHAME ON THE MEDIA for disinformation if/when they do mention Occupy Wall Street.
SHAME ON ALL POLITICIANS for ignoring the unrest in our own streets.
SHAME ON YAHOO for messing with emails mentioning Occupy Wall Street
SHAME ON TWITTER for stripping out the occupywallstreet hashtag
SHAME ON THE US GOVERNMENT FOR INTERRUPTING OUR SOCIAL NETWORK!

And shame on us if we don't stand up and join this movement before we lose what little we have left.

+Arthur Gwynne, everyone with political authority is probably the bad guy. Power corrupts. Absolute power is even more fun.

Gee, who could have predicted this would go over like a lead trial balloon?
In the run-up to 2012, a high-profile effort by the re-election campaign to counter critics has become an online bulletin board for jokes.

From the "Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time ..." files, two guys re-create "Weekend at Bernie's."
Police say two Denver men loaded their dead buddy in the back of their car for a night on the town at his expense, using his bank card at ATMS to get money for rounds of drinks, the Denver Post report...

I'm still trying to figure out the nature of this space as it pertains to me. Sometimes, it's like Twitter with more words. (Brevity may be the soul of wit, but it's not always ideal for nuanced conversation.) I see a lot of news here, and a lot of robust, thought-provoking discussion around news.

Sometimes it's like Facebook, only without my friends -- and I kinda prefer it that way. No offense to my friends; it's just that, for me, it's an opportunity to engage with people that I don't know in real live, have never met, and might never have an opportunity to know.

And the pictures! My god, the pictures. Coolness abounds. I love seeing pics on FB of my friends doing interesting, stupid, everyday stuff or seeing shots of where they live or visit. Here, it's like a streaming art gallery some days, full of whimsy and heartbreak and everything in between.

But how exactly do I fit into this mix, or even if I'll stick around remain open questions. We'll see how it goes.

This is how the "Let him die" hits home: Susan Grigsby's brother Steve died a painful death fighting for care as an uninsured American. Susan watched, horrified, as the GOP Presidential Candidates on CNN's Tea Party Debate stood silent when the the audience cheered for the idea that we as a society should just let an uninsured man die. Now Susan wants an answer from each and every GOP candidate.

Dear, G+ gurus, this is why some people don't use their real names on social media sites. For many, the alternative is silence.

I heard John Boehner accuse Obama of "class warfare" on TV. He's right. And the people Obama is suggesting pay their fair share of taxes have been fighting and winning class warfare battles for a long time now. I have no illusions about Obama actually following through. But Boehner and all of the "class warfare" crybabies make me want to puke.

"The more serious inequality problem facing the United States involves overall wealth, not just income. While the top 1% of Americans earned 21% of the nation's income, they owned a staggering 35% of the wealth in 2006-07, the most recent year for which statistics are available." (from link below)
President Obama is right to insist on the "Buffett rule": Millionaires should not be paying income tax at a rate lower than their secretaries'. But correcting this inequity is only a small step towar...
