UMM offers everything you'd want from a small, private liberal arts college, but because it's a public school it costs considerably less. I studied music here, and I couldn't recommend this department highly enough--particularly if you're interested in piano (incredible instructors) or composition (lots of enthusiasm for student works). The campus itself is beautiful, the student community is intimate and fun, and the professors are super accessible. I'd give the place six stars if I could.

Just the best. There are so many reasons to go to UMM; it is a small campus with only undergrad students, so the professors can really give individual attention; at the same time it is part of the U of M system, so we have access to the many resources and online systems that comes with that. Finally, it is super cheap. You would have to go to a community college to find somewhere that costs less.

Seriously, don't listen to the 1 star reviews on this forum. I came in as a prospective student and I committed to coming here on the spot. The campus is very beautiful and well taken care of by their grounds crew, the students are very active and passionate about what they do, and it has that small-campus feel where, like the old cheers theme "everybody knows your name". I honestly wouldn't have spend my undergrad anywhere else. Small campus feel with large campus opportunity. (BTW....I have heard nothing about it being "a big place for meth users" and I've been here for 4 years.

Both of my boys attended this college. It is the gem of the UM system. As others have noted, the class sizes are small and the profs actually do the teaching, getting to know their students in a way that can't happen in a graduate research facility such as the main campus in the Twin Cities. Tuition is very affordable which was a bonus for this single parent. Although there is some typical college town alcohol abuse, neither of my kids came across hard drugs. NO METH!! If you are looking for a progressive, environmentally conscious, diverse group of people, Morris may be just the place for you!

The cost is about 1/3 of what private universities cost. The courses are rigorous, but with a small class size you get what you need to do well and your professors will know you by first name. The student body is diverse and of high quality. Campus is beautiful and well groomed. There is a big emphasis on sustainability which was not compelling in my decision to attend, but is a nice added bonus.
