We often get visitors to FurnaceCompare that ask who's to blame when their new furnace dies.  So, we talked with a number of contractors to try to understand when the fault lies with the manufacturer, and when it lies with the installing contractor.

One last, interesting note: solar panels are following Moore's Law.  At current rates of cost / performance improvement, electricity from solar will be as cheap as electricity from coal in about 5 years (around 2018).  In about 10 years (at current rates of improvement) solar could be half the cost of coal.
