Story
Introduction
As an architect, I was instrumental in starting the sustainable design movement in Baltimore over ten years ago. I have worked with many clients to help them realize their dreams, from concept to construction. As an advisor to the 2007 Solar Decathlon , I helped steer team LEAFHouse to be the top-placing American team, a second-place-overall finish.

My expertise is as an industry-changer, and I have also worked with institutions to develop sustainability initiatives. I now work with small business owners to take their business in a green direction, starting with clear framework and vision, identifying new markets, crafting a green brand and message, developing new products, assessing and reducing their footprint, and giving back.

I worked with Chris on the conversion of a barn into her photography studio. The photographs she's taken of it are intimate and beautiful, at least on par with the best architectural photographers I've worked with. Her primary concern with the project was to have a light impact on the environment, both during construction and into the future. She and her partner did much more legwork than most of our clients, which says a lot because we only do green projects. They found beautiful sustainably-logged timber, salvaged materials from demolition to re-use in the project, researched which insulation would be the most eco-friendly and energy efficient, brought in a wonderful Amish craftsman, and even did some of the hardest labor themselves. Her commitment to minimizing their use of fossil fuels extended to selecting an innovative solar hot water heat AND cooling/dehumidification system. Above all, creativity and enthusiasm carried the team through all challenges to achieve a big vision in a beautiful, inviting, and inspiring way. I am very proud to have been a part of this transformation.
