There's nothing more real than synthetic turf.  Even the maintenance crews sometimes can't tell the difference...

Ground work for the third TigerTurf hockey pitch at Hockey Northland is well underway with the final trim of the base is now being completed.

The new light poles for in between the two turfs are due to be lifted today,  Monday 3rd February. These poles were specially constructed to hold the load of two sets of lights, one facing each turf. The foundations of the centre light poles had to be doubled in size to suit the larger poles and now consist of 13 cubic metres of concrete!

With the base finally leveled it will be ready for a tack and blind coat of asphalt and then the hot mix next week, after the 40 tonne cranes have finished lifting the light poles in place.

The TigerTurf installers are scheduled to be on site soon to lay the rubber and the WETT Pro surface.  The install will take a couple of weeks and is planned to be finished on time at the beginning of March.
