Bill: NIMBY is not black and white. Sometimes, intelligent and thoughtful citizens and land owners can be opposed to a proposed project and favor another. That is what people do. The Main street HVL "zig zag" has turned out a success, but the widening of Kanuga and N.Highland Lake Rd by TAKING via eminent domain peoples land, may be a colossal mistake. The French Broad Metropolitan Planning Organization, the apparent instigator of the Flat Rock project, has a Utopian vision of us riding bicycles to work and little if any understanding of our historical significance. I'd rather live in what you have dubbed the "Sovereign Republic of Flat Rock" than the "Greater Asheville Metropolitan Peoples Republic". Flat Rock Village Council votes on 12/4. Let them know what YOU think.

This is NOT a " No Grow" project. It IS an immoral TAKING of private property for a dubious purpose. Just like Kanuga Road, N. Highland Lake "Highway" is not about safety , but about creating a utopian disney land environment as conceived by the French Broad Metropolitan Planning Organization (check out there website). Nowhere in these projects have I seen or heard history or preservation considered. Alert the DOT right away that neither of these projects are appropriate.

Taking private property by eminent domain for bike paths is immoral.. it is not "no grow". Socialist utopian visions of cheerful workers commuting to the factory on 10 speeds is not progress. Its disney world. Sorry: Kanuga Rd and N. Highland Lake should be a big fat NO.
