#NERG North East Retro Gaming weekend 2014  @ Gateshead Stadium.
We saw over a thousand people playing 50+ pinballs, 100-something arcades and more consoles and retro computers than you could bowl an elf at.

I've been promising myself a "real" camera for ages and finally bit the bullet. After reading reviews for a couple of months, I settled on the Canon 700D with the 18-135mm IS STM lens (the lens seems better than the 18-55mm even across the same focal lengths). HDEW had the camera + lens in stock for £499 which was over £200 cheaper than ordering from Jessops (or any other Canon "authorised" retailer; they're all the same price). Other places give you a free starter kit (bag + tiny sdcard), but I don't think it's worth the £200 price difference -especially as HDEW also had an offer on for a free Canubo bag (which turns out to be much better than I was expecting). I put my order in online late on Saturday and due to needing it delivering to work, paid via bank transfer. As you can imagine I then spent the rest of the weekend worrying that I'd just done something extremely stupid. Got an email at 07:30 Monday morning to confirm my order had been received and was awaiting payment. I then called them Monday afternoon at exactly the same time they emailed me to confirm payment had been received. Both via email and on the phone I've found them (Melissa) to be extremely polite, helpful and friendly. Absolutely impressed by the service and pricing :) Camera + lens was dispatched Tuesday night and included a FedEX tracking number. Package arrived Wednesday morning before mid-day. I was very happy with the state of the package when it arrived; the Canon box and the case had been put into a larger box with plenty of packing-peanuts keeping it well padded. The camera seems to be a UK version (it's branded 700D and _NOT_ Rebel or Kiss) and was the proper body + kit lens in the box (rather than a mix and match as some other resellers do). The Canon box looked unopened and contained both EU and UK power plugs, as well as all the official paperwork, manuals and quick start guides (once again, nicely printed originals, rather than photocopies as has been reported from other sellers). Oh, and it comes with an extended 3 year warranty which adds piece of mind. So, in summary: Saved a substantial chunk of money by going with HDEW and because they're UK based there's no worry about VAT or import duty. It was packaged well and delivered extremely quickly. Absolutely painless process and based on my experiences, I'd highly recommend them any day of the week. With the money saved, I've got myself a better kit lens, a couple of batteries, desktop tripod, straps, lens cloth, a couple of SD cards and still spent less than just the camera would have cost from Jessops =)

Amazing (as always). Been eating here are with my grandparents for years. Food is always fantastic and the service is unbelievable. Ran in to collect a take away tonight and was made to sit down and given a complimentary drink and chocolate with the bill. Unbelievable =D

Extremely friendly staff, cheap prices, generous portions and fantastic fish. It's 50 miles from home but I'll be making a point of heading back shortly :)

New owners. Beer is excellent, they obviously take the time to flush the lines properly. Food finishes at 3pm on a Sunday.

Fantastically friendly staff. Good pints and fair prices. Excellent food; nicest chips I've ever tasted :-) Spent the last fortnight trying to find a nice steak. All the meat is local (Bethesda 10 miles away) and the steak more than lives up. Supprisingly for me it was the gammon which stole the show. Wow is it good :-D
