I cover the Ravens for The Baltimore Sun. Sometimes I dabble in the Orioles or the Terps. If a professional ice hockey team came to Baltimore, I'd be in sports heaven. matt (dot) vensel (at) baltsun (dot) com.
Introduction
I joined The Baltimore Sun in February 2011 after three years at our sister paper, b free daily, where I covered the highs of Baltimore sports at M&T Bank Stadium and the lows at Camden Yards. My b blog, Virtual Vensanity, was a must-read for Baltimore athletic supporters looking for videos of Ray Lewis blowing up planets on a gigantic, rocket-powered raven and for my opinions on the Ravens, Orioles, Terps and Capitals. After being a full-time contributor to another Sun blog, Baltimore Sports Blitz, I began covering the Ravens on a daily basis in the middle of the 2011 season. Now my analysis, commentary and Ravens updates can be found at our Ravens Insider blog.
Bragging rights
The MDDC Press Association really liked what I did on the Blitz blog, so much that they gave me a fancy first-place certificate for blog [slash] online commentary. I can throw a football about 20 wobbly yards, but I was a pretty good collegiate roller hockey goalie in my prime (which, believe or not, does not impress women at a bar). My hair was voted the second-nicest in The Sun's sports department behind deputy sports editor Matt Bracken.
