16 WAPT News morning meteorologist covering Jackson and central Mississippi
Introduction

Ethan Huston is an award-winning meteorologist and proud to bring the 16 WAPT forecast every weekday morning for central Mississippi.

Ethan received his master’s degree in geosciences/broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University in Starkville. He earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and minored in meteorology at the E.W. Scripps School of Communication at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

The Associated Press named Ethan Best Weathercaster in the state of Mississippi in 2013. The 16 WAPT News team and Ethan have also received Best Newscast awards from the Associated Press for multiple years. The continuing coverage of the deadly Yazoo City tornado in 2010 earned Ethan and the 16 WAPT News team an Edward R. Murrow award.

He is currently the vice president of the National Weather Association Central Mississippi chapter and is also a national member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.

Ethan is an instructor at Tulane University in Madison, Miss., where he specializes in teaching Natural Disasters involving severe weather and other natural phenomena.

Ethan can also be found in classrooms around central Mississippi during the school year teaching children about severe weather preparedness and what makes Mississippi a hotbed for tornadoes. He also gives schools and civic groups tours of the 16 WAPT studios.

Before working at WAPT-TV, Ethan was a meteorologist for WTOK-TV in Meridian, where he covered everything from tornadoes to snow storms.

Ethan began his meteorology career in the small town of Jackson, Wyo., where he forecast and reported for KJWY-TV.
Before moving to Mississippi, Ethan forecast weather and reported news for WYTV-TV in Youngstown, Ohio, and worked for WCPO-TV in Cincinnati.

Ethan is an avid college sports fan. He enjoys both Ohio University Bobcats and Mississippi State University Bulldogs football and basketball. He roots for the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers.

Ethan is from the small town of Sugar Grove, Ohio, which sits to the southeast of Columbus tucked away in the rolling foothills of southern Ohio.

When he's not forecasting, Ethan is usually outside. He loves long-distance running and is most likely preparing for another half or full marathon in the near future. He also enjoys working out at Crossfit.

If you are a teacher or a leader of a group and you’d like Ethan to come speak or you’d like a tour of the 16 WAPT Studios, feel free to write him an email at ehuston@hearst.com.
