"what a symbol means to other people is at least as important as what it means to me."
I spent some formative years in punk culture, and love my ancestors' celtic and germanic symbolism. I don't fly any of the symbols that represent those parts of me though, because of the cultural baggage attached to them (especially together).

I don't blame the "PC police," or people who don't like racists, for the fact that I can't do that. I blame the neo Nazi human shits who co-opted my various cultures and ruined their symbols in the public eye.

I guess that's the difference between me and these clowns though. I'm aware that what a symbol means to other people is at least as important as what it means to me.

I mean, either that or these county commissioners are just actual racists. It's Tennessee, so that's a distinct possibility

This is an interesting article, but it doesn't answer the question that led me to it:
Why abbreviate St. Louis? Why not, 'Saint Louis'?
