Stop Shaming for the Choice to Medicate Children
The choice to medicate my children for psychological and behavioral challenges has not be an easy one. I imagine it is a decision not made lightly by many parents faced with similar circumstances. Despite the real need for medicine, there is stigma and sham...
Judgment from others exist saying schools, video games, poor discipline, lack of exercise, and junk food cause these issues with our kids. These subtle or not so subtle stabs blame parents for their children's conditions. If only you fed them better food... If only you didn't let your kid watch ...

Thank You Walmart for Keeping Your Stores Open on Thanksgiving
As we approach Thanksgiving, I start to see more indignant posts and memes condemning stores opening on Thanksgiving.  At least a smidgen of vile gets thrown at Walmart because they keep their stores open.  I get it. I truly do. I am married to a spouse w...

How my childhood influenced my love of the outdoors
I hope my children are developing a love of the natural world. I often wonder how much and what kind of outdoor play do they need to grow to cherish our earth. Are the outdoor experiences I am providing for them enough? How did my upbringing contribute to my passion for the outdoors?

Great tips!
“I had that first, Colin! I want it now!” Owen shouted after dinner one evening. His little fists clenched, his face reddened, his eyebrows furrowed, and his voice rose to a screech. Rituals allow our children to feel safe.
Every single trip to the grocery store, the twins are eager to see the monster. They wave and say hello to the monster. It doesn't matter that he doesn't talk back. It doesn't matter that the monster is actually a longhorn cow. They used to be scared of the monster, but he grew on them.

A post about gratitude for my community being supportive of our needs
I am a Mom to That Kid. The kid whose behavior can be so extreme that I completely understand that other parents would not want their children around my child. While having a child with these special needs can feel isolating, I want to thank those who have made my family feel welcomed.

On letting the kids' do their own school projects.
“You’re not being graded on this, Sarah!” my husband screamed from the dining room. “Very funny,” I said. But I wasn’t laughing. I’m a recovering school nerd.

What a fantastic idea to bring animal figurines out to play amongst large boulders.  It looks like it sparked her imagination!

Thank you for sharing at the Outdoor Play Party. I hope you come back again tomorrow to share.
