Lola - Jungle Kitten in the Tree

Cherry blossoms. We planted a Fuji cherry tree in the front yard a couple years ago. Tall and skinny, it struggled to make it. Last year I wasn't sure it would. But last week it erupted in a parade of white double blossoms. It's going to be just fine.

This creepy looking toy is currently Lola Kitten's all-time favorite. Just like a kid's toy, it came out of a cereal box. In this case, a bag of Friskies promoting Puss In Boots.

Humpty has been lost under the stove, the fridge, and in the laundry, but he always manages to show up again. She carries him around in her mouth, throws him in the air and practices killing small animals on him, and occasionally she and I play fetch with him. I woke up the other morning and she had brought him to bed with her, tucking him under the covers down by my feet so he wouldn't get cold. Sometimes I find him in the food dish. He must get hungry after all that play.

This morning I found Humpty stuffed under my keyboard, his creepy stitched eyeballs staring up at me.

I love this picture I took of my mom. It captures her personality and energy in so many ways.

So ironically enough, I was at an all-day Rotary training session yesterday in Portland at the Rose Garden, and happening simultaneously next door in the arena were MONSTER TRUCK RACES!!! Last week's research suddenly seemed prophetic. Who would have known I could predict MONSTER TRUCK RACES!!! ?

I think we should have been comped tickets to the MONSTER TRUCK RACES!!! or at least been given a discounted admission. That would have been awesome. It made me think that maybe MONSTER TRUCK RACES!!! would be a good Rotary fundraiser.

For the New Year, The Man and I gifted ourselves with FitBits (http://www.fitbit.com).

So far, it's a handy little competition inspiring widget that has us running up and down the stairs at night and around the house. "Just 2 more flights of stairs till I reach 10!!" *puff puff puff* "Just 50 more steps till I'm at 10,000!" *puff puff puff*

What I'm finding really fascinating though is the ability to track my sleep. So far, over the last three days, less sleep = better sleep. Sunday night I slept 8 hours and was awake 11 times (95% efficiency). Monday night, sleep = 10 hours and awake 12 times (93% efficiency). Last night? I stayed up and read till 11 (I have an awesome book, it couldn't be helped). Sleep = 6 hours and awake 7 times (97% efficiency). So does this mean if I only sleep 4 hours tonight (because I NEED to finish this book!) I'll have 100% efficiency? But while my sleep may be efficient, I suspect I'll turn into a raving RAWR!!! sleep-deprived drooling crazy-eye monster and that's not good for anyone.

Note: This picture has nothing to do with FitBits, but KITTEH!
