Its a big month for me with Shutterbug Magazine. Along with the story I have in their How-To Guide, I have a story about a family horse pack trip in the Sierra last summer running in their July issue.

Of all the stories I have written for Shutterbug this is one of my favorites because it ties my love of the mountains and adventure with my love of family. Oh yea a small dose of photography thrown in on the side as well.

Enjoy!

Getting ready for my first trip into the high country in a few days and digging through work from last season in the High Sierra to get inspired. This was our camp for 3 nights at Bear Lakes last summer.

This trip I'll be spending a few days in the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne. I have heard many Sierra photographers refer to it as their favorite location in the entire range. Can't wait to see what new photos I find.

For all you Backpackers out there pick up a copy of Shutterbug Magazine's 2014 How-To Guide. I wrote a story for them about how well backpacking and photography mix. I include a few tricks I have learned after years of carrying a camera into the wilds.

A few backcountry friends make appearances as well.
Its on news stands now!

My wonderful wife taking the time to make a cup of tea during our recent Pt. Reyes trip. The funny thing is, I think we relaxed more while guiding the trip then we are at home. Having a two year old seems to make one's day a bit more busy!

We are loving being parents, and are looking forward to taking Francisco next year when we guide our Pt. Reyes trip!

A few weeks ago Jen and I guided a backpack trip at Point Reyes for a group of high school students. I didn't have a lot of time to shoot because I was guiding, but I did sneak off for a few photos one afternoon near our camp.

It seems like every time we visit Point Reyes it is cloudy, but for a few short hours we had clear weather and great light. Can't wait to go back again next year.

One of my all time favorite waterfall images is running full page in Backpacker Magazine this month. Glacier National Park is one of my all time favorite places to shoot both wildlife and landscapes, and the glowing spray above St. Mary Falls makes it all worth it!

Pick up a copy of the May issue and enjoy several other amazing waterfall images as well.

During Francisco's first trip to the Peter Grubb Hut we went with our great friends Dave and Anya. This shot is of Anya reading to Francisco and Isa while warming up after playing in the snow.

I love living near the Sierra Nevada and all the great potential photos it has to offer. I came home today to find out that Bing is running another one of my Sierra images as their home page. Way to go Aurora Photos!
