The decor and ambiance are terrific, but I wasn't pleased with the quality of macaroons that are brought home to my wife.

After a short city walk, I find this cafe, having a cup refillable ice tea, and a macaron. What I like is that they have this beautifully colored dessert, which is the best representation of art in culinary. They have these special taste of macaron such as peach champagne and others in appealing color, pink, yellow, light green. The sales and coffee barista have true smile and caring spirit. I could not resist to take a longer break then I need just to enjoy in the middle of the day. This is a place where I found life worth taking a moment.

Fantastic place. Excellent, friendly service. Cafe au lait, croissants and croques were very good. Toni's husband took the time to talk to us and we even got a great recommendation were to go in Paris.

A French bakery & cafe right downtown in the Loop! What a treat located just south of the Chicago Cultural Center where you can enjoy a lovely meal, supplemented by delectable treats from the bakery! I especially enjoyed the croissants and some kind of chocolate pastry which did not last long enough for me to photograph! This place is terrific for a full meal or a quick snack/coffee. After your visit, be sure to venture through the back door to the lobby of the Pittsfield Building where you'll enjoy an old fashioned art-deco masterpiece of a lobby surrounded by four floors of small shops directly above you.

Fancy a sunny summer afternoon along the Seine? Stop in and grab a pain au chocolat at Toni and prepare to be transported to the City of Light. From the macron to the croissants, and the quiche and the chocolate chip cookies, every bite is a delight at this Loop sweet shop and cafe. I also ordered holiday trays from Toni, filled with mini sweets in the European style. My family devoured them! One of my absolute fave spots in the city.

I did not know this place was here until I attempted to surprise someone with some French Goodies for breakfast. The croissants are great and the coffee was divine. I love the ambiance of the cafe as well and will be returning to test the rest of the menu soon. In the end, I never realized how much I miss Europe until today.

This is my absolute favorite pastry shop in the city. First I'm going to state I'm reviewing this purely on the pastry side of things and not the cafe aspect. I haven't eaten any of the sandwiches here as when I go here I just want a great European styled pastry and that is exactly what I get! I mean I don't really even know what to say I haven't had a bad thing here! The eclairs, Financiers, tarts, Macaroons are all fantastic. The Lemon Squares? Don't get me started! YUM! The vanilla cheesecakes are also fantastic (and I only wish my wife loved them more so I would have an excuse to pick one up weekly... though I'm sure my stomach size doesn't agree with that...) If you have a sweet tooth and enjoy your sweets to not be done too sugary (as many American styled bakeries will do) - you are going to want to stop here. Today!

Wedding cake flop. Not only did they get the shape and design wrong after about 25 emails and a photo [from their own webpage!], they used a horrid tasting fondant when I asked for buttercream. The people I dealt with were extremely friendly and the manager at the Chicago store where I picked it up were kind and charged me 1/2 price, BUT....when we got the cake opened from the box later, I noticed they had the wrong icing. The so called buttercream filling was also a horrible tasting plastic like texture and flavor. Honestly, even flopped cakes I have made at home tasted better. Don't risk your wedding day on this one folks. Because even if you taste samples and order it, they may give you something different the day you need it. Go to Costco instead. SO DISAPPOINTED! I thought a pastry cook from Paris would do so much better.
