New Mediation Class: For Christians, meditation offers a new way to open to God. It’s not better than prayer and scripture--It’s just a different way to open our hearts. On June 21st at 5 pm, a new beginners’ class on Christian meditation will start. Classes will be 1 hour long and will be offered on June 21st, 28th, July 12th,19th, 26th and August 2nd. Classes are free, no need to sign up, and you don’t have to be a church member or a Christian to join. Veteran class members are also welcome.

Starting This Sunday:
5-week Lenten Class on Forgiveness

The great Christian leader Archbishop Desmond Tutu made forgiveness his life’s work. He and Nelson Mandela led South Africa after the end of apartheid. Tutu says we need each other, and so we must learn to forgive. Following Jesus’s teaching, Tutu insists that nothing is unforgivable and that every person is a child of God who deserves forgiveness. In "The Book of Forgiving," he offers concrete steps to forgiving others and ourselves.

In this class we will read and discuss Tutu’s book and do the exercises he devised. The class will be at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday evenings in Lent at 6 pm, running 5 weeks, from March 5th to April 2nd. Bring a brown bag snack or supper if you like. You will need a copy of the book and a notebook or journal to write in. (Book Title: The Book of Forgiving. Authors: Desmond Tutu and Mpho Tutu. If you need help getting the book, contact Pastor Corey Larsen)

This film beautifully captures the sense of Grace and Gratitude we talk so much about as Presbyterians.

How will you encounter Luke 9:28-45 this Sunday?

"It thrills me to think that these two people from the Old Testament are ... saying to me, Helda, you can believe this, we made it, we're here... It's a very alive story for me, and I love it."

It doesn't sound like we will be learning much from this recent discovery, but a 12th cave is exciting nonetheless. http://ow.ly/rfvD308QR7Z
