Hey E. I hope this message finds its way to you. Just wanted to say, I am a 1st year teacher, also attending night classes for my masters. You, Eric Thomas gave me the mindset and knowledge to get me through everything. Freshman year of college I had a 0.9 GPA and I was put on academic probation. I came back and killed it and finished college with a cumulative 3.0 GPA and I credit an extremely large portion of that to you Mr. Eric Thomas. I am a huge fan. Just wanted to let you know how appreciative I am from the bottom of my heart. You have really unlocked my vision and have helped me see the potential I have and what I can do.
Just as I was finishing my final undergraduate semester, I sat down with the head of my college's Education department. I wanted to speak with them about continuing my education. I wanted to do things, the important things in the education world that I felt only principals and superintendents could really do. Things that could bring in real improvement to our kids' learning, by working from the top down. They told me that only one student they really know of has ever pursued their masters of administration immediately after receiving their undergraduate, while also working as a first year teacher, and she had a really hard time doing it. I just told them that I will do you one better. Sign me up for the classes, even the ones that most people with 10+ years experience decide to take during their final semester. I will not only take these classes, but I will excel in them. I will not only work during this time as a full time 1st year teacher, but I will excel and challenge myself further by coaching our football team as well. E.T., they said I wouldn't have time in my schedule between work, and practice, and night classes, saying that is too much work for one student or teacher. They began adding in the fact that I drive an hour and fifteen minutes one-way everyday just to get to work, which puts me at an even bigger disadvantage by automatically losing two and a half hours every day. I told them I am simply used to and ADDICTED to THE GRIND. If I am not under pressure and pushing myself to the ultimate limits at every level, then I feel stagnant. Before I left my meeting with the dean of graduate studies, WITH my new schedule for the fall, I told her "anyways, I'm not losing that two and a half hours every day. That is my time, and I use all my time, MY time is precious to me so I do not dwindle any of it. I listen to E.T., and or spend time talking with God". They asked, "who is E.T., like E.T. Phone home"? Oh man!!! "You guys simply don't know!! I have the largest advantage over you guys and it's all in the palm of my hand in my phone or on my radio. That is when I learn. That's when I am influenced and empowered to challenge myself to do great things that you say only one other person has attempted here at your "extremely rigorous course", but I know why I am doing this, so I know I can, You should look him up on YouTube". As I walked away I instantly had that whole "drop mic" feeling.
Side note E. You not only have you given me the vision and mindset to reach beyond expectations in school and work and my personal drive/work ethic. You really helped shape me and my personal relationships with others. Building such strong relationship with the woman I had fallen in love with. So much that I can happily say, I am engaged to that amazing woman and we will be getting married in June 2018, right as I graduate with my masters in educational administration. All at 25 years of age. Principal at 25. Wow!? Shocks me still. A lot of thanks and gratitude I give to you E.T., and your entire family and work family. You really are changing people's life. Mine included.

Thank you.
