I’ve noticed a pattern running through a few recent episodes of Vimcasts: I’ll demonstrate one way of doing something, and remark that to revert the change requires two or more undos. Then I’ll demonstrate another way of doing the same thing, perhaps using functionality from a plugin, and this time I can revert the change with a single undo. That seems to me to be a good criteria for deciding which method is better: it’s the one that can be reverted with the fewest number of undos.

Here's a preview of the new Vimcasts.org site: http://proof.vimcasts.org/ I plan to launch it for real later this month, so please keep it to yourself until then.

The big new features are as follows:

* responsive design
* articles and episodes are tagged
* site-wide search

I'd welcome any feedback.

Vim’s list feature can be used to reveal hidden characters, such as tabstops and newlines. In this episode, I demonstrate how to customise the appearance of these characters by tweaking the listchars setting. I go on to show how to make these invisible characters blend in with your colortheme.
