Fuctions of casting powder used in CCM system.

Casting powder play a major role in the continuous casting of steel due to its multi-functional assignment, as it determines the stability of the continuous casting process. Here we will introduce it by illustrating its five main functions as below:

1. Prevention of re-oxidation (liquid slag)
It can cut off the contact between atmosphere and molten steel, in which way the molten steel is avoid of being re-oxidation. By blocking the contact between carbon-enriched layer and molten steel, it improves the surface quality of steel billet and reduces the tonnage consumption accordingly.

The classification and application of #MagnesiteBrick

Generally magnesite bricks can be divided into sintered magnesite bricks (also called burnt magnesia brick) and chemically bonded magnesite bricks (also called unfired magnesite bricks).

Sintered magnesite bricks are made from shaped brick with a process of being crushed, batched, mixed and shaped. It is sintered under the temperature of 1550~1600 degree Celsius. And the sintered temperature of high purity products is generally above 1750 degree Celsius. For the production of unfired magnesite bricks, it is that magnesite sand being added into some chemical bond and then being mixed, shaped and dried, thus finally made the unfired magnesite brick.

The magnesite bricks are mainly used for alkaline open-hearth furnace for steel making, the bottom and side wall of electric furnace and heating furnace, the permanent lining of oxygen converter, non-ferrous metal smelting furnace, high temperature tunnel kiln, the lining of cement rotary kiln, and also it can be used as lattice brick in glass kiln heat storage room and so on.

The main component of dolomite is calcium magnesium carbonate. Mohs hardness (MOH) is between 3.5 and 4.

#DolomiteBrick is made as refractory products from calcined dolomite sand. Generally dolomite brick has more than 40% CaO, more than 35% MgO and some SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3 and some other impurities. The ratio of CaO/MgO in natural dolomite is little large. If the ratio of CaO/MgO is less than 1.39, it will be called magnesite dolomite brick.

In China, Chinese mainly use resin bonded dolomite brick and resin bonded magnesite dolomite brick for converter furnace . Some factories use light burning oil and oil fired magnesia dolomite brick in easily damaged part. In Western Europe and Japan, people usually use resin bonded and oil fired dolomite brick and magnesite material dolomite brick for their converter furnace. Besides, magnesite dolomite bricks also can be used for lining of some refining furnaces.

Origin countries and application of #bauxite.

At present, there are 49 countries who are rich in bauxite mine. China ranks highly in the world with rich bauxite resources. China, Guinea, Australia, Brazil are all belong to bauxite resources country. Among those countries, only China and Guyana produce high grade bauxite for refractory use.

#ChinaBauxite resources are mainly distributed in Shanxi, Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangxi, Liaoning, Hunan Province and other places.

The application of bauxite are as follows:
1. For aluminum refining industry.
2. For precision casting.
3. For making refractory products. The refractoriness of high grade bauxite can reach as high as 1780 degree Celsius. And also it has stable chemical properties and good physical properties.
