Lovely food, great range of craft beers and draught beers. Little bit on the pricy side

Hooray for this place. With the regeneration of Capel St and the Parnell St Chinatown movement, this part of the city is slowly, slowly becoming an attractive proposition. And Kavanagh's is helping. Superb selections of both beers and whiskey's and very good food for the price means that not only is this a fantastic option for people living nearby, it's also worth travelling to.

Great food, and always have a different selection of tasty veggie options as well as the normal meat and fish dishes. Great selection of beers and wine and the staff are so friendly! Great pub all round!

A positive surprise in the area. Nice food, great atmosphere and a really good selection of beers. They have between three and five beers on cask any given day. I am a fan of real beer so this is a plus for me :-) Food is mainly classics with a bit of a twist. I can recommend the fish and chips and the bangers and mash.

W.J Kavanagh's - like their 'big sister' pub, Mulligans of Stoneybatter - is a true gem. Kavanagh's has rapidly become my favourite pub. It's a craft beer place - no generic Diageo or Heineken shite, just a huge variety of really good craft ales, stouts, porters and beers, from cask, keg and bottle. Similarly, I think they're currently offering over 40 varieties of Irish, Scotch and Japanese whisk(e)y. There's an excellent food menu, too, with fresh, local produce. What stands out about Kavanagh's, though, is the staff. They actually *care*. Mention you like a particular beer? The knowledgable staff will recommend others you might like. Recently, at a birthday gathering there, one of the barmen heard a few of us were into whisky, asked if we'd like a tasting, and spent about 30 minutes or so taking us through some Scotches and Japanese whiskies. I highly recommend this bar. (Oh - they've an off-licence attached, too!)
