We cannot always pinpoint discouragement right away because we mask it as something else. We ignore what is discouraging us and place it at the back of our minds. However, it will not go away that easy.

My latest post is 4 Steps to Dealing with Discouragement! I was really discouraged and confused about my next steps during my 3-4 month blogging hiatus. I lost motivation, but I was also feeling bad about not keeping up with something I spent time and money into creating.

Please share under the post if you can relate and share your story!

How Do You Stay Motivated?

Eat. Sleep. Hustle. Repeat.

We mostly see people priding themselves on hustling and we see their great posts on Instagram, but it is easy to get discouraged when you don’t see the process it takes to get there.

The effects of social media are something I have begun to really focus on because they may seem trivial, but they truly affect young people. We glorify what we see online and that becomes our new reality.

We all fall victim to posting the glory moments, but we fail to post when things are ugly and hard.

So, what does any of this have to do with staying motivated?

10 THINGS NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT MONEYIN YOUR TWENTIES

Are our twenties the time to splurge with no regrets or is it the time to start thinking critically about our finances?

I am sure the latter part seems boring and not important when all you want to do is explore the world, party with friends, and get your degree.

Now spurlging with no regrets… that sounds appetizing.

Well, until you realize you do not have that much money to splurge and your finances are making you stressed out.

Let’s evade that stress by going through 10 things no one tells us in our 20s…about money.

*How To Get A Job: Overcoming Rejection" Did you ever think that it’s our job to audition and the vacation is when you get the job?

I never thought of it that way either, until Nik Walker from Hamilton came to speak to my theater class. He had to audition 8 times before he received that special “yes” from Hamilton, and now his vacation has begun.

It doesn’t mean the work is over, but it means the hustle of auditioning and going back time after time again after not getting the role or contract is over…for now.

As dancers we receive criticism and a few no’s and we immediately internalize it as rejection. This can happen anywhere from an audition to the rehearsal process or even in the paper from a dance critic. No matter what package the “rejection” comes in, it sucks and we have to learn how to handle it.

How To Build Relationships Expert Advice from Professional Dancers

I started a new series How To Get A Job as a dancer because I am currently working on the same thing. After my first post on the importance of networking and building relationships, I wanted to write a follow up post on how to build relationships.

I can easily tell you the importance of building relationships, but it doesn’t help if you don’t know how make them.

I can offer my advice, which mostly comes from what professionals have told me and my experience or I can have professionals tell you exactly what they think.

I thought the best way to answer this question was to ask professionals:

What advice they would give to emerging artists on how to build relationships…

Key To Success There is no straightforward answer for the key to success. I wish their was a simple equation that you could follow and BAM you would become successful.. Wouldn’t that be nice?

In an ideal world, it would be great. I can’t give you an exact formula, but I do believe these 4 h’s have a lot to do with who becomes successful and who does not.

Hustle. Humble. Hungry. Honesty.
