Anyone who complains must be insane. 1st of all "It's a Diner" not a 5 Star restaurant. Nevertheless I received 5 Star service. Walking down Main Street with no clue about this place, I walked by it the 1st time since it was at the end of the road/sidewalk I had to pass it again. Looked in didn't impress me but I thought; What the heck? Grabbed the 1st seat at the counter. It was busy, very busy so I did wait for the 1st person to offer coffee and a menu. I was there for breakfast, looked at the 1st two pages of the breakfast menu. Somebody else brought me my coffee with 3 samples of cake, bread or whatever. All I know was that they were DELICIOUS... Looking back at the menu I found 2 more pages of breakfast. I picked the Irish Soda bread French toast. 2 scrambled eggs and Irish bacon. Now I'm Puerto Rican, don't do much Irish. ,But I felt adventurous... While I waited the owner (Brian) came up to me and we had a wonderful conversation, he walked away to make one of his famous breakfast and then another worker came and offered me another cake with some cream, what was it? I have no Clue but again DELICIOUS, then came my meal and now DELICIOUS is not good enough. This was absolutely Fabulously DELICIOUS... I can say much more but I'm going to end it at that. Oh yeah, came back the next day with my wife and she loved it as much as I did...

Just took a friend to O'Rourke's for her birthday lunch. Her bacon cheeseburger with slaw was great. But my french toast made with Brian's Irish Soda-bread, and 3 different types of jam topping was better than advertised. I think that all the (international) magazine reviews underestimate the quality of the food prepared by Brian. If you're visiting Middletown be sure to stop for a meal.

Really wanted to like this place after seeing the DDD episode and reading the reviews.... it didn't happen. Upon arriving there we were told to wait outside in the cold (without taking our names). Don't expect them to come out and tell you a table is available - after about 20 minutes we took the initiative on ourselves and walked in again. A table happened to be available. Our meals were nothing to brag about and pricey for the amount of food we received. My brown bread was dry and no butter nor ketchup is any where to be found. The service is unfriendly as well. These other reviewers have obviously never been to New Jersey- were the real diners are.

Chef Brian is amazing! You receive a small plate of various baked goods (always amazing) when you sit down. We love to go early on weekday mornings when it is emptier - Chef Brian gives us extra treats! The staff is generally good. The coffee is delicious! If you go on a weekend, expect a long wait. But if you are a small group (2 or 3) you can usually bypass the line if you're willing to sit at the counter.

Chef Brian is awesome and friendly. He served up mini desserts that were scrumptious. I tried the oatmeal which was chock full of nuts, berries and bananas. Portions were plentiful.

I'm from New Jersey and this place doesn't compare to diners from down by me. The waiting line is disorganized and I was told to stand outside in the cold till I was called in. No one came to get me and people walked in after me and were seated before. Staff is very rude and our waitress never explained the specials. My bill was slapped on the table before I was done eating in an effort to get me out. Nothing special here. Don't waste your time. Overpriced.

The specials are interesting and I have never been disappointed with the flavor or the presentation of any of the meals. The staff is very personable and it feels like I'm being served by my friends rather than an employee. The decor is very classic and appropriate with an Irish twist. Split a special and you will not be disappointed in the size of your meal or the price. This is not a place to come and stuff your gullet full of simple pancakes, folks.
