Latest Momentos: Comedy, pickpocket, rampage.

I've stretched and done push-ups and situps for twenty-five consecutive days now. Takes less than ten minutes each time, but it's keeping me in good shape. On lazy Sundays like today, when I was out late last night and almost feel hungover, it's so much easier not to do it.

Funny story. Yesterday a man with a machete threatened to throw rocks at me because I wouldn't give him money.

You'd think he'd threaten to slice you with the machete rather than go through the trouble of grabbing and throwing rocks.

Here's something I've been thinking about a lot lately: Do humans have free will, or are our actions entirely predetermined by environment and biology?

I'm arguing for the latter. See here:

EVERYTHING I EARNED AND SPENT IN 2014

Ever wonder how much it costs me to travel around the world?

I traveled/lived in ten countries last year, and kept track of every dollar I earned and spent. Here's the breakdown: http://www.ndoherty.com/2014-finances/

Would you like to read more books in 2015? I was pretty proud of myself for reading seventy books in 2014. I share a few tips for how I did that in the post linked below.

Also in there, my top ten book recommendations from what I read last year.

Decent selection. No pushy salesmanship, just good, friendly service.

One of my favorites places in Amsterdam. Great people, cheap drinks, and away from the tourist trail. A real hidden gem. Check it out on Friday nights for storytelling/stand-up/improv. Oh, and Momma Mezrab's famous soup!
