I Produce the two hour newscast every Saturday and Sunday morning on WPTZ
Abigail joined Newschannel 5 in January of 2013 as a Production Assistant. She worked her way into a Producer position when WPTZ launched the new Weekend Today show.
Abigail grew up in Wilmington New York five minutes from Whiteface Mountain. Needless to say, she pretty much grew up on it. She lived with her parents Ray and Kathy and the family doggie on a beautiful piece of land on the outskirts of town.
Abigail went to Lake Placid High School where she was very active in music, theater, and volleyball. She graduated in 2003. and from there she went to Saint Lawrence University and studied Theater and Music. Oh and a minor in Education. She always worked in and for the local theaters, hanging lights and building sets. She also sang in a number of groups during her four years.
Abigail studied abroad in Vienna Austria her Sophomore year, learning everything about architecture and music. The opera was only two euros and fifty cents for standing room!
After graduation, Abigail went to Lima, Peru to teach English. She learned a lot about Peruvian culture and even got to spend some time in Cusco. In Cusco she visited Machu Picchu.
Soon after returning to the States, Abigail moved to New York City to explore. She stayed about three years and learned a lot about culture and people.
Needing a new adventure, She moved back home to Wilmington to take a job at a local radio station. She got a lot of experience doing Traffic, budgets, and Social Media. After awhile she even was able to do some on air work for the rock station. But her favorite task, was creating spots for advertisers.
Soon after leaving the station, she got a job on a feature film that was shooting in Lake Placid, NY. It gave her the opportunity to expand her skills and network with people. She even organized the extraction of the original 1950's morgue from the lake Placid hospital. The movie set designers needed it for a set.
Abigail decided to go back to school for Audio Production and TV/Film Production. She chose SUNY Plattsburgh because of its great Communications department. She was able to work and study and make it through another Bachelor's degree in about two years.
Right after graduation Abigail got a job at WPTZ as a Production Assistant and the rest is history.
