I was mesmerized at the level of detail that Shawn has put into the making of CABAM. I was one of his Mixology students a couple of years back and I kept receiving the newsletters with updates. As a student of the mixology courses, I liked Shawn's teaching style as he is well-rounded in the industry, he knew many details about the history of cocktails as well as how to prepare them using real ingredients, not the mixes college students easily find at BevMo. I signed up for the full bartending course at CABAM and I must comment on the facility, staff, and materials. The facility is brand new with state of the art bar setting as well as the integration of high tech to keep up with the surrounding tech industry of SF. The staff is prompt to reply to emails, friendly, approachable, and caring about your bartending learning and experience. They constantly ask you if you have any questions and are quick to provide help, even when I struggled with the right ratios of my drinks. The material is a lot of learn, but as with every great skill, practice makes better. If you are truly serious about becoming a bartender, CABAM is the place where you want to learn and practice. Just make sure to keep practicing; speed and style will come to you.
