My Mantras: (1) Passion and enthusiasm make things possible, not easy. (2) The person that works the hardest wins. (3) You have exactly one life in which to do everything you’ll ever do. Act accordingly. (4) Embrace the value of extreme focus; and (5) Orville Wright did not have a pilot's license.

I could sleep right now, but is the competition sleeping?

Things that keep me up at night.

Ben Kuchera (Polygon) pretty much nailed it on the head.  #Halo always felt like it was about community - split screen, co-op, LAN party, multiplayer - doesn't matter, the game brought people together like i had never seen before (except from something like Smash or Mario Kart - hell, I bonded with my 10 year older brother over co-op NES Mario Bros) from roommates bonding , family members playing together, even kids hanging out at teen centers, etc - taking that function away felt like a huge part of the soul to the franchise got ignored. This article (different from the embedded image below) has a very dramatic title, but i felt it hit what bothered me pretty well. - http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2015/09/21/the-new-loneliness-of-video-games/

Shame #Xbox chose to focus on revenue over community. Beautiful game and attention to details, a great step in the right direction - with two painful steps back.

From my view it seems a big factor that 'families with money' bring is a "Fallback Option"  - I imagine this is one of the more important (other factors being Connections, Finance, etc), people from a comfortable family know if their venture goes south they wont be homeless. Their family/friends will make sure they have board, food and an ability to restart. This puts them in a position to risk all with out the same downside.

Ambitious ideas take more time than just product development/implementation. Marketing and business development run on much lengthier schedules. For example, if I was running on half a year in on savings trying to go 100% on my startup, I would HAVE to be pulled away from full-time on my startup and back into contract work, where I'd be constantly encouraged to just go full-time instead (mostly founding-stage startups with funding). Meanwhile, my entrepreneur friends who come from exceptionally wealthy backgrounds have no such constraints or risk of going homeless if their startup doesn't get funding or start making revenue.

when you looked at the combined company - one side was profitable (payments) and the other side (selling) was not. I have a feeling that PayPal will continue to climb and eBay will start to drop unless a rebuild to their brand or overall image is made.

Not the most tactful way to report sentiment, but I like the spirit.

Google's "mobile update" may, in hindsight, seem small compared to the change Facebook announced today. Facebook is changing their news feed algorithm again (in several ways) to feature fewer links/news and more updates from friends. FB users will also see fewer links that friends have shared/liked/commented-on, which will further reduce the external traffic Facebook can/will send.
Publishers are going to be in a tougher and tougher position, given that Facebook's organic reach is already so low (~2% on avg was the last reliable number). This will have a much more dramatic impact on organic web traffic channels and opportunity than Google's mobile-friendly algorithm changes.
