I became certified through Aarons. have been on many dives and always a positive trip. the staff treats you like family, professional and safe, yet still goofy and light hearted. would def. recommend.

These guys are great. They will tell you exactly where to go on the island given the conditions of the season, etc. Also the prices are better than you will find elsewhere!

I cannot recommend this shop to anyone. My 10 year old son and I signed up with them to do our open water certification. For our first dive, they took us to a shore dive site where we had to put on all of our gear in the parking lot, including weight belts and walk about a quarter of a mile uphill then down steep steps to get into water with 3 foot swells and no visibility. My son had a very hard time with that dive and I was very upset that this was his first and very bad experience in open water. We could only do one dive and had to call it quits for the day. My young, strong son actually strained his back from hauling the gear! The next day we were signed up and paid to do a boat dive to complete our certification and they cancelled that boat without any apology explaining they didn't have enough people signed up to make it worth it. I made it very clear to them that we could not go back to that shore dive site or anything like it and and they did find us a decent shore dive site and we got certified that day. The next day we were signed up to do a boat dive which we did and the service was terrible and actually unsafe (except for the boat captain and our instructor, Arnie, who were great). One diver who was getting certified that day was about to do a back roll into the water and her bc was not latched onto her tank! We other divers caught it just in time. Her instructor was already in the water and didn't even know what happened. One instructor, Tim, in particular, was obnoxious and unprofessional. Bottom line: No one had our backs or really cared about us having a good experience in that whole operation...except Arnie.

Dive Professionals and VA beware. I moved to Hawaii to become a Divemaster and have spent 6 months exclusively diving with Aaron's. This shop is has an elitist attitude and will eventually become very pretentious the longer you stay. The owner will never remember your name unless you stick around for a long enough time. In addition he wont cut you a break on gear rental even though you bring all your friends that visit to his shop to sign up for charters or buy gear. Mind you this is already after you spent thousands of dollars at the shop for training, gear, cost for insurance and opening an LLC. He will tell you that they need help and are always looking for Divemasters and Instructors. But in time I have seen several Instructors who moved here go to other shops or move off the island because of the Totem poll effect. The shop is not busy and they don't cater to the tourists of Waikiki so there are limited charters. I personally know several of the veterans who came here for their VA program and even after setting up their paperwork months ahead in advance it was never submitted and they now they can't pay their rent and have been given no allowance or solution by the shop. Unfortunately as of this date, this is the only shop that does a VA program on the island of Oahu. Also veterans, since you need 40 dives to get signed up for Divemaster, expect to get charged full price for tanks because you will need to do beach dives on your own. The positive things I can say is that their dive staff who actually run the charters are knowledgeable and you can get in some good dives. Also boat dives on Nitrox do not cost additional money. However you can get the same dives at cheaper prices elsewhere. Basically if you're a prospective dive pro, expect to put in lots of work and get very little reward in the way of charters. To sum it up, this has been a learning experience of how long one should stay loyal to their dive shop.... I should have cut my ties long ago.

Came in for some simple stuff and was greeted by a friendly staff. Answered all of our questions plus some, and even went on about some experiences. Very satisfied and will come back

They did not follow through the groupon deal that we purchased. Not friendly, not honest, would absolutely NOT recommend dealing with these people.

Every instructor, divemaster, and sales associate has treated us like royalty, and has always gone above and beyond to ensure we have great experiences. Safety is always the top priority (as it should be) and we have never had anything less than a great time with these guys - they're skilled, fun, trustworthy, and overall great people. The number of people on the boat charters is limited so every trip is comfortable and fun, we are regularly given discounts since becoming members of the shop's dive club (including free birthday dives and club dives), and everyone is always happy to answer questions and provide extra support as needed without asking anything in return. The only time I ever encountered any problem at all - a typo on my certification card - it wasn't even the shop's fault (our instructor showed us proof that it wasn't the shop's fault even though he was under no obligation to). In this situation the owner himself went out of his way to contact me via phone and e-mail immediately after I reported the issue with instructions on how to get it resolved - which it was in a matter of a couple of minutes thanks to his great advice. Both myself and my 14-year-old obtained our Open Water certifications from Aaron's, followed by our Emergency First Responder, Emergency Oxygen Provider, and Enriched Air Diver certifications. In addition, we are currently enrolled in the Advanced Open Water and Deep Diver courses with them. We have done a total of 24 dives with Aaron's over the last two and a half months, and not a single one has been anything less than awesome. Friends have joined us on the boat to try out diving through the Discover Scuba class and had a blast, and since hearing about the high-quality instruction offered by Aaron's, my sister has decided to pursue all of her dive training through them. Special thanks to Jeff, Larry, Tim, and Dave for taking such great care of us - Jeff is our go-to guy when it comes to learning how to dive and has always provided us with the highest quality of instruction, Larry provided us with an excellent introduction to the world of diving, Tim ensures we are properly equipped, and Dave in on top of it when it comes to arranging our instruction. Our friends fell in love with diving after their experience with Arnie and both of them definitely plan on coming back soon to obtain full certification.

Terrible. I have never been treated so rudely by anyone, never mind anyone trying to run a small business. The owner/manager asked me for my personal information for a $20.00 sale, and I simply told him i didn't want to be on any mailing lists or anything. He said "he wasn't the FBI" and "wasn't going to call me" in a really snotty tone. I told him to forget about it and he was sorry that I had an attitude problem. That's when I walked out the door and he said some more nasty remarks that I wouldn't say to someone that I was trying to get business from. I am a professional military diver, and Aarons is by far the worst dive shop I have ever been to. Don't waste your time, drive to town and go to a shop that values it's customers.
