Some people find that minimizing technological distractions helps them focus on themselves and the outside world.

lengthy but incredibly interesting article. lots of it will be familiar if you've read 'fast food nation' or something similar.

While "best use of an animated GIF" is a stretch (tumblr!) I love this kind of stuff.

How a key works.  That's the best use of an animated GIF that I have ever seen. Now I'm off to my lock-picking class.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/alexklein/is-scientology-self-destructing

Funniest line in the article is in this paragraph...

"And the ranks of the faithful are dropping. In 2008, there were 25,000 self-identifying American Scientologists, down by over a half from 55,000 in 2001, according to the American Religious Identification Survey. (Over the same time period, the number of Wiccans more than doubled from 134,000 to 342,000.) The 2011 British census showed a total of 2,418 Scientologists across England and Wales; about 73 times as many Brits identified themselves as "Jedi.""

The accuracy on this is really impressive...speech to text.

Stolen from @danguterman on twitter. I find this really funny even though I deplore the misuse of homonyms....

TIP: A common grammatical mistake is confusing "there" and "thinking strangers want your grammatical advice."

service was mediocre, two of 18 oysters i got were noticeably bad, food was OK but definitely nothing special. incredibly loud inside. ended up quite expensive for average food and wine.

Some of the best sushi in all of NYC. Great ambiance - having been to Tokyo it would fit right in there. Fantastic service. Very small place so go early!

Had an amazing meal here with an even better wine! Service was great. Had a beautiful walk around the grounds after dinner under starry skies. Martha Stewart was eating there the night we went. Crowd is unfortunately a little douchey and not that fun but the tables are spaced far enough apart where you don't have to overhear the unbearable conversations of other guests.
