Join us on May 12 at 2pm ET / 11 am PT for a Hangout On Air to discuss the latest in the fight for surveillance reform.

The Hangout On Air will be hosted by Jess Hemerly, Public Policy Manager at Google. She will be joined by guests Rainey Reitman, activism director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and Robyn Greene, policy counsel for the Open Technology Institute.

We’ll lay out the current state of play, including the USA Freedom Act and the potential reauthorization of Section 215 of the PATRIOT Act. We’ll also talk about last week’s big decision from the Second Circuit Court of Appeals on bulk collection.

Ask your question in the comments and through the Q&A app during the live broadcast.
This Hangout On Air is hosted by Jess Hemerly. The live video broadcast will begin soon.

Well...there is supposed to be government powers holding it in check...if
they fail the absolute final say is the commanders of the armed
forces....but that isn't the problem either...the problem is that we are
all accountable for these results when we all push aside what needs to be
done and nobody does it. This is the result of less work and more
play...when the rest of earth cannot play because they cannot control all
people with old ways they currently try to do. Technology is allowing
freedom to spread across the planet like a fire...into forbidden places
that dislike this form of change...or have no idea how to direct it in a
positive manner...like not lying to us when we need to know....we....as in
all people.... are responsible for our own perceived failures and sucesses.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Rock's Backpages – the world's leading collection of vintage music journalism – we bring you a classic interview-cum-confrontation between the late Lester Bangs and his hero Lou Reed. Originally titled Lou Reed: A Deaf Mute in a Telephone Booth, the piece first appeared in Let It Rock in November 1973

So glad someone caught this.
You know this jackass couldn't wait till the Tour de France's 18th stage yesterday. You know he carefully picked out that green headband, that pink tank top, those mismatched gloves, those red socks, and those neon yellow leggings just for this. You know he absolutely had to be seen next to someone on a bike, and that when Tejay Van Garderen came wheeling toward him up there in the Alpe-d'Huez, his moment had finally arrived. And away he went.

blue-tshirt guy is a dick and should've received a kick in his teeth.
if he wanted to stop the runner from interfering with the race he should've grabbed the runner.
by tripping him he risked that the runner would fall into cyclist or under  that bike or under the trailing cars.
assholes are all over the world. :/

Decided to revive an old blog so I can ramble on about running, eating, cooking, and drinking during my time in Europe. Do not expect anything profound.

Bday present from +Jonathan Koshi is this rad teak end table with a built in magazine rack. I've wanted one of these things for a while, and Koshi had wanted my magazines off the coffee table for a while. Win win!

High heat roast half chicken. Crispy skin thanks to 24 hours air drying in the fridge post-brine.

My darling husband +Jonathan Koshi is selling his 77 World Ciocc on eBay, and donating 10% of the auction proceeds to the San Francisco Food Bank. It's sweet, complete with vintage Campognolo components. Your purchase will not only clear some space in our bike-filled storage unit, it will help feed hungry people in San Francisco!
