When I first went to Horst and McCann's, I was a bit rusty with firearms and it was a first time for my thirteen year old handling handguns. The morning course that we took was thorough and enjoyable. We learned a lot. My son since has become an avid hunter- three deer before his fifteenth birthday- and shooter. The shot gun I bought from Horst and McCann's has proved to be an excellent purchase. I highly recommend Horst and McCann's.

I had purchase a Groupon deal online for a group of 4 shooting experience. Overall me and my friends had a amazing time. Bob did a good job with training us on safely and how to use the gun. Jeamny did a wonderful job with customer service. He had me and my friends laughing the whole time about our football teams. Then to add the icing on the cake he let us take some cool pictures with the big guns. The only thing that I didn't like was the Groupon didn't cover the full amount. It wasn't to much that I owe but still I think the Groupon should cover everything.

Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience with Horst & McCann when trying to purchase an assault rifle. Paperwork problems, misinformation, and several times visiting the disorganized shop resulted in frustration. Many times it would take them several minutes to find my paperwork or weapon, and I noticed other people's paperwork and weapon parts at times would be strewn about the store. This sensitive information and hardware should not be able to to in the view or accessed by other customers. I did finally obtain my weapon, but I would not go to them ever again. As a firing range, maybe they are OK, I can't rate that. But as a FFL, I rate them as a 1.

Definitely the best range around. Excellent, helpful staff (a rarity in Baltimore), nice clean range. Well worth the drive out.

Rich was excellent and I saw him handle two customer concerns with respect and understanding. Bob was excellent in the orientation and provided the prerequisite safety information while still be engaging. I also saw him work with several first-timers so their experience would be both fun and safe. I used a Groupon and this was my first experience with the company.

My wife and I went there to try out the reflex sight on our 22/45. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. The range officer in particular is a very nice guy. Always willing to help and even pasted our target one time when we went to rent a different gun. Looking forward to going back for some more practice.

My cousin and I just wanted to go fire some rounds down range. We signed up for a class figured we'd learn something and get to shoot. 3 hour class and 15 rounds was not what we were looking for so we asked for our money back. Denied at first but eventually got store credit. Which I was very thankful for. So at this point we both paid $90 for the class (refunded $81 each due to service fees of $9) and had a total of $162 in store credit. Figured that should cover us for at least one trip to the range (gun, range time, ammo and 1 target for each of us) When we exited the range to turn in our weapons and ears we were meet with a bill for $73 for the two of us. Seems our store credit was only good towards Gun and range time; no ammo, no target. Total deduction from the store credit was $14. Feel as though this detail was not delivered clearly to me (someone not familiar with the cost's and fees of the gun range as I have only been twice) As a Veteran, US Air Force 15 years and counting, I would suggest you avoid this establishment simply based on the fact that poor customer service is unacceptable.

Horst & McCann is the first indoor range I've ever gone to and I have had nothing short of a great experience every time. I have purchased two pistols from there at very fair prices. The lanes are not over-priced and the staff is about as curteous and knowledgeable as you can get. I''m a pretty talkative person and went in there asking them what kind of gun I wanted and they patiently took the time to walk me through the process (and if they don't know something, they just tell you). The paperwork process to buy the gun was very fast and smooth. I try to go there once a month and have brought a lot of people who have never shot before. We have all had a good (and safe) time. I would highly recommend this place to people who are both new to shooting and experts.
